The Citizens Advice Bureau and the Joint Pensioners’ Convention are encouraging the community to celebrate Grandparents Day today.
The organisations are asking people to “do something grand” to recognise the contribution grandparents make to family and community life.
They say grandparents often play an important role in childcare, while passing on cultural knowledge, family values and traditions to younger generations.
Families are encouraged to mark the occasion by spending time together, sharing stories and looking through old photographs.
Equality Minister Christian Santos has also backed the initiative, saying Gibraltar’s families and wider community rely greatly on older citizens and thanking them for the contribution they make.
