Unemployment in the Campo de Gibraltar has risen to a total 31,465 people.
That is a rise of 1.5 percent and 461 more people out of work than in December.
Reports in the Spanish regional press attribute the rise to the end of the Christmas season, with the services industry being particularly hit. The Spanish press also reports greater activity in construction in the Campo area, with fewer unemployed people seeking employment in the sector.
At the end of January, 8,439 people were registered unemployed in La Linea.
