Plans have been confirmed for eight more traditional red phone boxes to be placed around Gibraltar.

Proposals filed with the DPC would see the classic booths installed at landmarks including Casemates, Europa Point and the Alameda Gardens.

In 2024, the Regulatory Authority carried out a public consultation on whether the existing booths should be kept following persistent issues with vandalism.

The survey showed strong support for the iconic red phone boxes.

The new K6-style boxes will match those already associated with the Rock’s British identity.

These days, they’re mostly used by tourists taking photographs, which is just as well, as the handsets won’t actually work.
