Power Station feeds grid with electricity generated from LNG for the first time

Gibraltar’s new North Mole power station generated its first five mega watts of electricity from liquid natural gas this weekend.

It was the first test to one of the dual engines. Environment Minister John Cortes said it was an “historic moment”. Commissioning of the three dual engines will continue over the next few weeks.

The Government believes these new facilities will guarantee Gibraltar’s power generation for many years to come and have a very positive impact on our air quality.
