There have been queues of up to an hour and a half to cross the frontier in either direction by car on Tuesday afternoon, with a Borders and Coastguard spokesperson telling GBC this is due to the Spanish Policia Nacional carrying out extensive checks on documents.
On Tuesday evening, outgoing queues lessened slightly, to around 45 minutes.
Additionally, there were pedestrian queues of up to half an hour to leave Gibraltar at around 5.30 in the afternoon, although these have since dissipated.
Frontex officers were carrying out checks on the Spanish side of the frontier on Tuesday morning as well.
Monday night also saw unusually late queues for those driving out of Gibraltar, with an estimated waiting time of just over an hour recorded at 11.30 in the evening.
