Referendum Bill passed unanimously in Parliament

A bill for the Referendum on Abortion next month was passed in Parliament on Monday.

It was brought to Parliament as an urgent Bill, with Civil Contingencies provisions for additional protections against the pandemic

The Chief Minister said the Bill amends provisions regulating the procedure for the registration of voters, allowing them to vote in person, by post, or proxy, and designates the Chief Minister as Minister for the Referendum Act.

He said the act of voting would be modernised and made easier, and praised the work of the Clark in preparation of this bill as a testament to his ability and experience.

The Bill was passed unanimously
Earlier in the session, Parliament observed a minute's silence for the passing of Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh last month.
