Representatives of ‘clean-tech’ company Blue Shark Power have carried out oceanographic work in Gibraltar’s southern waters to identify the most promising locations for marine current technology.
The scientists were accompanied by the Department of the Environment and Climate Change, and engineering firm Energie de la Lune. They used specialist equipment to detect where the strongest currents are located; research that will inform any future marine renewable programme.
The Government has committed to producing at least 20% of its energy from renewable sources by 2020.
