The sale and refurbishment of the Old Married Quarters site on Castle Road has gone out to tender. The Government says this forms part of its plan for regeneration of the Upper Town.
The pre-war building comprises ten flats, and previously formed part of the Government’s rental housing stock. However, the Government says the Housing Department has been working on relocating existing tenants.
Deputy Chief Minister, Joseph Garcia, said much of the Upper Town was allowed to fall into disrepair before this Government’s approach to urban renewal. Minister for Housing, Samantha Sacramento, said many tenants living in the Upper Town are elderly and have therefore benefited enormously from the process.
