The second ever Wizz Air flight from Gibraltar had to spend the night on the Rock, after being hit by birds during landing on Monday.
Wizz Air told GBC the aircraft landed at Gibraltar airport uneventfully and inspection of the aircraft continued into the night.
The airline said passengers were provided with meals and accommodation. They departed on Tuesday afternoon at 1231 once all necessary inspections had been completed. A spokesperson said: "The safety of our passengers, crew and aircraft remains Wizz Air’s top priority.”
Tourism Minister Vijay Daryanani said he liaised with the Gibraltar International Airport in case they needed any assistance from the Gibraltar Government.
Meanwhile, the GSD says it closely monitored developments following the bird strike reported by GBC and is thankful that it did not result in any major incident.
