An initiative geared towards encouraging seniors to get out of the house and socialise begins ton Tuesday.
Spearheaded by local language school, Little English, and B2 Projects, Seniors Tea for Two will be hosted at the IPA Police Club Tuesday afternoon as from 2pm, with hot drinks, refreshments and snacks available. The event will be catered to by uniformed policemen.
Moving forwards, Seniors Tea for Two will be a monthly event, taking place every second Tuesday of the month, with plans in place to expand the number of activities on offer.
Sophie Clifton-Tucker, of Little English, urged the public to reach out to family friends, neighbours or any other elderly person who they thought might benefit from this sort of social interaction. She says through these monthly meet-ups we can help to combat loneliness.
