Sir Joe Bossano has been appointed as Minister with Responsibility for Financial Stability, with the Chief Minister advising the Governor to add the new responsibility to his ministerial portfolio.
Fabian Picardo says he looks forward to working with Sir Joe, the Cabinet, and Financial Secretary Albert Mena on a post-pandemic and post-Brexit budget, designed to ensure long-term financial stability and the regeneration and sustainability of public services. He said the measures proposed on this basis would be debated in the next budget session in Parliament in early summer.
For his part, Sir Joe said it will be a very challenging time financially for the community. He said an Extraordinary Cabinet Meeting had already been held at his request in order to ensure no time is wasted in getting finances back on track from the extraordinary costs of the past twelve months.
