​Six more COVID-19 deaths brings total to 59

Six more people have died from COVID-19, bringing the total number of COVID-related deaths to 59, 52 of which were caused directly by the virus.

Three of those whose deaths have been confirmed were Elderly Residential Services residents: all six had underlying health conditions. Five people were aged between eighty and ninety-five: three of them died from COVID-19 pneumonia, with two dying from COVID-19 pneumonitis.The sixth case is that of a woman in her early sixties who died earlier this month: a Coroner's report has confirmed that she also died from COVID-19 pneumonitis and myocarditis.

The Chief Minister has said the "daily death toll on our most valued generation of Gibraltarians is heartbreaking". FabianPicardo said, "Please, stay at home."

There are currently 645 active cases of COVID-19 in Gibraltar, with 36 new cases confirmed and 39 recoveries.

There are 39 people in COVID-19 wards at the hospital, with ten in the Critical Care Unit. There are 93 positive cases at ERS.
