Six Spanish MEPs are seeking to block the European Parliament from approving the EU-Gibraltar treaty.

Partido Popular members have tabled an amendment calling on Parliament to reject the agreement when it comes to a vote, provisionally expected in December.

It follows the debate on the treaty in Brussels on the first of September, when most MEPs backed the agreement, while Spanish PP members spoke against it.

Their amendment will now be considered as Parliament works towards its decision. Its consent is required before the EU can formally conclude the treaty.V
