Spain and Britain have signed an agreement to allow British residents in Spain and Spanish residents in the UK to continue being able to vote in local elections post-Brexit.
The agreement was signed by junior Brexit Minister, Robin Walker, and Spain's Europe Minister, Marco Aguiriano. UK Ambassador to Spain, Simon Manley, described it as a "historic voting rights treaty".
EU citizens have the right to vote and even stand as a candidate in local elections in a country not their own. The UK says it will look to agree similar deals with other member states.
