Spain appoints new judicial liaison magistrate to the UK, Borja Jiménez Muñoz

Spain has appointed a new judicial liaison magistrate to the UK, with the Spanish Justice Ministry highlighting the role of the new Spain-Gibraltar relationship following the EU treaty.

Borja Jiménez Muñoz, a prosecutor from San Roque, will be based at the Spanish Embassy in London. He will also cover the Republic of Ireland.

His role includes helping coordinate judicial cooperation between Spain and the UK, including the transfer of wanted people, legal assistance, the freezing and confiscation of assets, and the exchange of evidence.

He has extensive experience in international judicial cooperation, including four years with Spain's State Prosecutor's Office.

Borja Jiménez Muñoz takes up the post this week.
