Following a high speed chase in British Gibraltar Territorial Waters, three Spanish nationals have pleaded guilty to the importation of a rhib. The Court has ordered the forfeiture of the vessel.
The RGP had received a tip off from the Guardia Civil of a launch heading towards BGTW in the early hours of yesterday morning. It was spotted by the RGP Marine section, close to Europa Point and a chase ensued. In court there was a report of a collision with the police vessel.
Apart from the importation, Juan Manuel Ordonez Suarez also pleaded guilty to navigating the vessel and obstructing a police officer. He was fined £3500.
Juan Jose Pinero Espinosa and Francisco GilDominguez pleaded guilty to the possession to the sole charge of importing the rhib and were fined £2000.
In their defence, the lawyer argued that the men had been chased into Gibraltar waters by the Guardia Civil.
