Saturday marked a hundred and fifty years since the founding of Calpe Rowing Club, and the club celebrated in style. The day began out on the bay with an anniversary regatta against visiting clubs from Spain, continuing a rivalry stretching back over a century and it was Calpe who came out on top on home water. As evening fell, celebrations moved to the clubhouse, where hundreds of guests joined the club for a night to remember. The highlight came with the unveiling of a brand new eight, christened by Blanche Baker the boat named in her honour to mark this milestone year.

Staying with rowing Jack Prior was at the heart of a Great Britain crew that claimed third place at the Netz Cup on the Kiel Canal this weekend. The Gibraltarian, rowing for Leander Club, slotted into the middle of the Men's Eight alongside club teammate Tom Ballinger. Prior featured across all three days of racing Friday's 500m ergometer test, Saturday's 300m sprint and Sunday's gruelling 12.7km marathon on the canal.Great Britain finished behind winners Germany and the Netherlands, holding off Italy and Ukraine for the bronze medal.

Special Olympics Gibraltar enjoyed a superb weekend at the Sweden Invitational Games in Malmö, with the seven-strong squad returning with plenty of medals. Alexandra Perera, Mark Dos Santos and Jesse Dos Santos all struck gold, in the 50m, 200m and 100m respectively, while Hannah Colton claimed a double silver over 50m and 100m. Further silvers came from Perera and Dos Santos, with the relay team winning bronze.
