The new sports facilities currently being constructed are part of the Government’s business plan to invest in and promote further Gibraltar’s sports industry. This according to the Sports Minister who hosted a site visit for the media at Europa Point. Steven Linares says the project aims to be cost neutral and will further generate funds that will go towards paying for these new facilities. He also highlighted the works have considered the environmental needs of the area, with solar panels generating the electricity needed for the site once its up and running.
The works have involved the preservation of a WWII bunker, with access to underground tunnels also being created as part of a heritage feature which will add to the overall product. Developers are extremely confident the complex will be ready by March/April of next year.
