A temporary suspension to the Bluefin Tuna Open Season introduced after under a month of fishing

A temporary suspension to the Bluefin Tuna Open Season has been introduced after just under a month of fishing.

This will run to the 5th of August with the temporary ban including catch and release.

The Open Season will resume the day after, on the 6th of August.

The Department of the Environment's Protection and Research Unit will be enforcing the suspension.

A number of changes to the regulations are being considered.
