Two local men and a teenager have pleaded not guilty to charges of possession of a handgun and ammunition, as well as possession and intent to supply drugs with a street value of £11,500. 46-year-old Anthony Bernard Casey and 18-year-old Brenden Casey of Varyl Begg Estate, and a 17-year-old, appeared in the Magistrate’s Court Tuesday morning.
All three were charged following an RGP Drug Squad operation on Friday.
Officers reportedly seized 175 grammes of cocaine worth approximately £9,000, 445 grammes of cannabis resin, 20 grammes of amphetamines and 5 grammes of herbal cannabis, together with a handgun and five 9mm bullets. Having searched both the Casey residence and a garage, the police also report finding paraphernalia associated with the supply of drugs and an amount of money suspected to be the proceeds of crime.
An RGP spokesperson said: “The RGP remains determined to continue combating the supply of illicit drugs by combining marine interdiction operations in British Gibraltar Territorial Waters, the targeting of drugs suppliers operating within the community through intelligence-led operations and prevention/awareness work in our schools and wider community, alongside local and international partners."
