The three political leaders hoping to be Chief Minister went head to head at Leaders Question Time

The three political leaders hoping to be the Chief Minister of Gibraltar for the next four years went head to head on Monday night for the first time since the election was called.

Keith Azopardi, Fabian Picardo and Malene Hassan Nahon answered questions from an audience at the John Mackintosh Hall, as GBC kicked off two and a half weeks solid of election programming.

Leaders Question Time was a chance for the political leaders to impress those watching. And it was a chance for those watching to assess the candidates’ suitability for the top job they’re applying for. All questions came from the floor, on a broad range of subjects, including housing, Brexit, the climate emergency, the minimum wage and abortion.

Leaders Question Time was not a debate as such. Instead each political leader gave timed, largely uninterrupted answers to a total of 15 questions.

After the 90 minutes was up, attention quickly turned to discussions about: who won, who came second and who third. GBC’s coverage of Election 2019 is now in full swing.
