Fines were issued in the early hours of Tuesday morning to three individuals who were out during curfew hours, breaching the newly introduced civil contingencies regulations. They were fined £100 each.
A curfew between the hours of 10pm and 6am came into force yesterday, following measures announced by the Chief Minister to combat the spread of COVID-19. These are the first fines issued for being out during curfew hours.
A spokesperson for the Royal Gibraltar Police told GBC the individuals were out at 2:30am and that at that time of night it's unlikely they had any reasonable excuse for breaching the curfew. He added the RGP wants to encourage compliance with the regulations.
Michael Beltran spoke to Inspector Sean Picton about the RGP's curfew patrols.
