Unite says it has been assured that no existing GHA employee would be financially worse off under a new agreement, with some roles potentially moving to higher pay bands.

The union has briefed its members on ongoing discussions around the possible expansion of Agenda for Change within the Gibraltar Health Authority.

Agenda for Change is a pay and conditions framework first introduced in the UK’s NHS to standardise roles, banding and procedures

A limited version has been in place at the GHA since 2010, mainly covering clinical staff, and talks are now under way to widen its scope.

Unite says any revised agreement would exclude consultants, dentists, GPs and non-consultant hospital doctors, who have separate contracts.

The union believes a broader scheme could bring benefits, including more transparent job evaluation and clearer career progression.

It stresses that any changes to terms and conditions would be subject to full consultation and a membership ballot before agreement.
