A Spanish ecological group, Verdemar, has expressed its concerns over the prolonged presence of a nuclear submarine in Gibraltar. It say it suspects the HMS Ambush, which has been docked for 13 days, is undergoing repairs, which it claims puts the entire region at risk.
The group has requested the Ministry of Foreign Affairs activate a national emergency nuclear plan, comparing the submarine and other vessels like it to 'floating bombs'.
In response to GBC questions, the Ministry of Defence said, as is standard, that it does not comment on operational matters.
