Witnesses claim defendant in child rape trial also behaved inappropriately with them when they were young girls

A witness has given evidence at the Supreme Court that the defendant in an ongoing child rape trial also behaved inappropriately towards her when she was a young girl.

The woman claimed Jason Laguea, now 50, would repeatedly touch her bottom and chest in a way she had “never been touched before” when she was under the age of 13. Although, she added, the touching was never under her clothes.

Defence lawyer, Christopher Finch, suggested that, as they were Facebook friends, the witness had discussed the case with the complainant - something that was strenuously denied.

A third girl has also made claims about Mr Laguea’s in appropriate behaviour towards her when she was a child.

He denies five charges relating to his alleged sexual abuse of a young girl, which is said to have taken place between 2008- 2013, beginning when she was aged just eight years old.

The case continues.
