A woman has been sentenced to a week in prison for violent behaviour, because the offence took place at the Magistrates' Court building.
Ylenia Gomez slapped a woman and pulled her hair in the lobby of the court building, after the woman had been calling her names.
Earlier this week, the 32 year-old year old appeared in the Magistrates' Court, where the incident was described as a loss of control. Gomez suffers from mental health disorders, which Stipendary Magistrate Charles Pitto considered.
However, he ultimately ruled that it was unacceptable to behave in this manner as it was in the court precinct, and that she should therefore spend seven days in prison for the offence.
