Work has begun towards the regulation of quality of care, the according to the Minister of Justice's budget speech. Samantha Sacramento said this was one of "two major innovations in the pipeline", the other being the introduction of the Anti-Corruption Authority. Ms Sacramento also highlighted the work currently being undertaken by the Gibraltar Law Offices.
Samantha Sacramento added that with the retirement this year of Sir Martin Moore-Bick as a Justice of Appeal, the recruitment process for two more Justices will shortly be advertised.
As Minister for Equality, she announced that she would be hosting a regional conference of the Commonwealth Women Parliamentarians of the British Islands and Mediterranean region in Gibraltar later this year.
And, Ms Sacramento highlighted the two-year extension, announced by the Chief Minister, of tax relief for businesses which undergo works to make their premises accessible; she added that the provisions of the Disability Act requiring all buildings to be accessible will come into effect after that, and that an information campaign will shortly be launched.
