World Polio Day: the disease has almost been eradicated worldwide

World Polio Day is marked on 24th October. 

Head of the Gibraltar Rotary Foundation, Paul Church, told Gibraltar Today the international group has been an integral part of the worldwide effort to eradicate the disease since 1995. 

Polio has been significantly reduced over the last 30 years, and is endemic only in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

The Rotary Club's 'Paint a pinky' awareness event takes place on 25th October from 11.30am outside the Wine Shop.
