Applications are invited for employment as full time Chief Engineering and Technology Officer (CETO)
GBC is preparing to take possession of new premises and will complete the broadcast infrastructure build phase by the end of 2020. We are now looking for the right individual to join us in the Autumn to enjoy the benefits of succession management and help us to prepare for the eventual relocation phase in 2021.
The CETO will use their experience and knowledge to lead on reviewing, developing and delivering on the engineering and technology strategy that will be aligned to the Corporation’s business and broadcast requirements, and also manage a skilled team responsible for operating and maintaining the Corporation’s broadcast engineering and technology infrastructure, which broadly covers content capture, creation, manipulation and distribution to the various radio and TV and online platforms. The post holder will also be responsible for departmental administration and the professional development of the Principle Engineering and Technology teams, while contributing to the wider management of the Corporation.
The post holder will have excellent experience in the field of IT applied to broadcasting or a related field and thus comfortable working with internal departments to lead on recommendations and design workshops for the implementation of new systems, infrastructure and workflows.
The Minimum qualification required is an appropriate engineering or technology degree, Higher National Diploma or equivalent, with comprehensive experience of engineering or IT systems, preferably in a broadcast environment.
The work entails, but is not limited to: The derivation of the Corporation’s engineering and technology strategy to service the Corporation’s business and broadcast demands, project prioritisation and planning for refresh, improvements, growth and the management and development of the Principle Team who are responsible for the maintenance of all operational & IT infrastructure, leading the planning and coordination of outside broadcasts and providing operational capacity for audio, lighting and vision control for studio and OB obligations.
Reporting directly to the CEO, the successful applicant will be a strong-minded and self-motivated individual, who has excellent managerial skills and has a passion for the radio and television industry.
The appointment is expected to take effect in the autumn.
