The Gibraltar Youth Service recently promoted their traditional arts and crafts week as part of the GSLA Summer Programme. Over the last two weeks a group of twenty two youngsters took part in the Rags to Riches project held at the Youth Centre.
The idea of the project was to get old items of clothing and upcycle them into trendy items. All items of clothing were donated by Club House Gibraltar. Throughout the project youngsters took part in a series of different workshops, giving them the skills to customise their items. These included, tie die, fringing and adjusting.
The culmination of the project saw a showcase at the Youth Centre patio; a chance for participants to show off their creations to parents, family members and friends. The Minister for Youth, Miss Gibraltar and her two Princesses were at the event. The evening was combined with a photo booth, a gallery of their designs and a BBQ, with all pro- ceeds of the evening having been donated to Club House Gibraltar.
