The Chief Minister has given more detail on how Schengen checks could work at the airport under the UK-EU agreement announced yesterday.

Shortly after his return, he told Gibraltar Today the UK-EU agreement would require a new "common operating area" at the airport.

He said it would be a space for Gibraltar and Spanish law enforcement: half of it in Gibraltar, half of it in Spain.

Mr Picardo said the solution does not result in any loss of sovereignty.

He addressed concerns about boots on the ground, referring back to comments he made in early 2021.
