A former police officer has admitted sharing personal data unlawfully.

At the Magistrates’ Court, Robert McKinnon pleaded guilty to two charges that relate to sharing a wanted notice and a custody record.

Another former officer, Anthony Bolaños, pleaded not guilty to three charges relating to the same data and elected for a Supreme Court trial.

Standing as he addressed the court, 39 year old Mr McKinnon apologised for the 'error' and said "it had nothing to do with Anthony".

Mr Bolaños faces two counts of storing the same sensitive information on his phone and one count of sharing data unlawfully.

All alleged offences date back to 2022.

Both defendants have been granted £500 bail and their cases adjourned.
