Gender issues discussed at Youth Symposium

The Youth Symposium has discussed issues around gender - including the distinction between sex and gender, and how evolving transgender legislation intersects with women's rights.

The symposium also tackled issues such as childcare access, career aspirations, challenging gender stereotypes, and the concepts of equality and equity.

Also discussed was the rise of online misogyny, and the influence of social media on gender perceptions, personal relationships and wellbeing.

The session looked at health-related gender issues such as postpartum depression.

The symposium comprised young people from various NGOs and the Youth Service, with participation from the Ministry of Equality, Bayside School and Prior Park School.
