Gibtelecom has launched an exhibition to celebrate 155 years of communications history.

'Gibraltar Calling' takes visitors on a journey from when the first submarine telegraph cable landed in Gibraltar in 1870 - connecting the Rock to Cornwall, Malta and then India - to today’s high-speed fibre and mobile networks.

Gibraltar Calling showcases the relentless innovation and essential collaboration that have helped shape telecommunications on the Rock.  The Exhibition is a joint effort, curated by Gibtelecom, the Garrison Library and the PK Museum of Global Communications.

Gibtelecom's Director Global reflected on an incredible journey, from a single copper cable in 1870 to the robust fibre and mobile networks that connect us digitally today.

A core element of the Exhibition is its focus on education, with over 200 local school children scheduled to attend interactive workshops throughout the three-week run.  The idea is to inspire future innovators.

The Exhibition will run for three weeks. A lesson in history, but also inspiration for future innovators.
