Gibraltar residents hoping to welcome family from Morocco this summer are being urged to start planning now.

The Government says changes introduced under the UK-EU Treaty mean visitors travelling through Spain into Gibraltar, will need a Schengen visa before setting off.

The advice is aimed at Gibraltar residents planning to invite relatives from Morocco during the summer holidays.

The Government says that, following the implementation of the UK-EU Treaty arrangements for Gibraltar, Moroccan nationals travelling through Spain will be required to obtain a Schengen visa before travelling.

Families are being encouraged to begin the application process as early as possible, with appointment availability and processing times expected to vary during the busy summer period.

Applicants must complete a Schengen visa application, provide supporting documents including proof of travel and accommodation, attend an appointment to submit biometric data and pay the relevant fees before their application is considered by the destination country's consular authorities.

The Government is encouraging families to begin the process as soon as possible, warning that appointment availability and processing times may vary during the busy summer season.
