The Government has again rejected GSD criticism of its decision to appoint Daniel Greenberg to draft the Conflicts of Interests Bill, saying the opposition's position is contradictory and politically motivated.

Number Six says the Opposition has itself acknowledged Greenberg's unimpeachable independence, while simultaneously arguing he should not have been chosen.

It says if any conflict had arisen, Greenberg would not have accepted the appointment.

A spokesperson says Mr Azopardi has himself earned hundreds of thousands of pounds from the Government, and had applied for the role of Solicitor General.
