German pastor, Kai Höss, will be in Gibraltar next week for a public talk. He is the grandson of Rudolf Höss, the Commandant of Auschwitz, who oversaw the death of more than a million people in the death camp during the Second World War.

Mr Höss is a public speaker and regularly gives lectures on the legacy of the holocaust, the importance of responsibility from the past, and his faith.

He has been quoted saying his grandfather’s role in the Holocaust was seldom discussed at home when he was young, and that he came to understand its full significance while at school. He went on to study theology and became a pastor.

Much of his later work has centred on Holocaust education, reconciliation and speaking publicly about the risks posed by extremism. He speaks openly about the burden of his family history and his commitment to opposing anti-Semitism.

The talk will be at Boyd's next Tuesday at 7pm, and tickets can be obtained on eventbrite.com
