Jury trials in February postponed due to high number of daily Covid cases

Jury trials listed for this month have been postponed due to the high number of daily Covid cases. It means all three trials that were due to start by the 28th February will have to be vacated.

Defendants will have to surrender to bail on the dates their trials were supposed to go ahead, so that they can be re-listed. Other Supreme Court hearings are not affected.

The decision has been taken by the Chief Justice in consultation with the Director of Public Health. This is the second month that jury trials are postponed, with this position reviewed on an ongoing basis.
