A Morrisons employee has been appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire for her work ensuring post-Brexit food supply to Gibraltar.
Angela Johnson, a Morrisons supply chain manager, was responsible for making sure food was on shelves in the Gibraltar store, following the end of the EU transition period.
Brexit has brought difficulties importing a number of products into Gibraltar - primarily products of animal origin. The pandemic has exasperated supply issues further, with customers noticing the effects of these on the shelves throughout the year.
Morrisons says Ms Johnson was the person who worked with suppliers, customs agents, hauliers, government officials and the Gibraltar store management team to try to maintain the best possible availability of staple products.
Ms Johnson said she feels honoured to have received an MBE, explaining her only focus during last year was to ensure Gibraltar received enough stock to serve their customers every day.
