There have been no matches recorded against police watchlists so far at the border.

New border security systems introduced following the Treaty arrangements have been operating for a week.

The Government says the expanded CCTV network, Automatic Number Plate Recognition and Live Facial Recognition systems have processed a large number of images since going live.

The new CCTV network covers the border area, parts of Devil’s Tower Road and Winston Churchill Avenue, as well as Casemates Square and Main Street.

It's monitored 24/7 by a dedicated control room operated by a security contractor working in conjunction with the Royal Gibraltar Police.

The RGP are also responsible for managing and updating the current facial recognition watchlists and responding to any alerts generated by the system.

The images captured by the systems are being monitored and recorded for the prevention and detection of crime, as well as the safeguarding of public safety and national security.

The Chief Minister says the enhanced security systems are performing well and has thanked law enforcement agencies for their work in keeping Gibraltar safe.
