Port urges caution to mariners as North Cardinal Marker extinguished at Sandy Bay

The Gibraltar Port Authority has issued a safety alert after confirming that the northmost cardinal marker at Sandy Bay is currently extinguished.
The marker, which aids navigation in the area, is located at position 36°07.9’N, 005°20.4’W. Mariners operating in the vicinity – particularly during night hours – are urged to exercise increased caution.
The notice, issued as Local Notice to Mariners No. 034/2025, advises all owners, agents and charterers to ensure that vessel masters and crew are aware of the current status.
