RAF C-17 aircraft circles Rock around 14 times as part of training exercise

An RAF C-17 circled the Rock around 14 times this afternoon before eventually landing, as part of a training exercise. 

The Boeing aircraft was spotted by residents in the area, with some questioning whether crosswinds were to blame. 

However, the MoD has confirmed to GBC that this was a training flight, that allowed the aircrew to master the skills necessary to land a large aircraft with precision, under challenging conditions. 

The MoD spokesperson added that Gibraltar can be a challenging approach and landing for the best of pilots.
