The Royal Navy Squadron is using drone technology to increase security and surveillance on the Rock.

The Anafi Parrot Quadcopter drone is being introduced following efforts from the Royal Navy to cut red tape around drone use on the Rock.

So far the drones have been aboard HMS Cutlass and Dagger as well as launches used by the Gibraltar Squadron.

The MoD says it’s been able to implement the technology following work on improving the clearance process for drone usage, which it says has been designed for larger more complex systems.

Commanding Officer of the Royal Navy Squadron Lieutenant Commander Jonathan Davies told GBC the process is now 'significantly faster'.

He told Katy Docker the drones were being used for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance.
