The UK Treasury Committee has recommended the UK Government more than doubles the Remote Gaming Duty - a move which, if adopted, could result in a £112 million corporate tax revenue loss for Gibraltar.

Last week, the UK Betting and Gaming Council argued against such a drastic move, warning it could put 40,000 UK jobs at risk.

However, in its report published ahead of the Budget, the Committee said Government tax policy should reflect the harms caused by gambling.

The Minister with Responsibility for Gaming, Nigel Feetham, who has been lobbying on Gibraltar’s behalf, told GBC the Committee’s recommendation was “disappointing.”
