A local man has been sentenced to more than two years in prison after he admitted bringing cocaine over the border into Gibraltar.
28 year old Zyle Parody was stopped at the frontier in September 2024, he told customs officers he had cannabis on him, however a search revealed 45 grammes of cocaine. He claimed he was transporting it for a friend.
He was subsequently arrested and later charged with possession of the class A drugs, as well as their importation.
At his sentencing, Supreme Court judge Liam Yeats reduced his prison term due to his early guilty plea, and ordered the drugs be destroyed. Zyle Parody was given two years three months in prison.
An investigation into whether he benefitted from criminal conduct will now take place.
Leigh Debono acted for the defendant.
Patrick Canessa for the Crown.
