299.4 mm of rain makes January 2026 6th wettest since records began

The Met Office says last month was the sixth wettest January since records began in 1947, with nearly three times the long term average recorded.

With weather advisories in place for heavy rain and gale force winds from this evening, February seems to be continuing in the same vein.
