A 46 year old man has been sentenced to time served after pleading guilty to controlling or coercive behaviour.

James Lee Dalrymple was arrested last year and also admitted to one count of Common Assault.

The Scud Hill resident subjected his victim to controlling and coercive behaviour in a number of ways, including threatening her with physical violence, belittling her and questioning her whereabouts.

The common assault charge relates to events that occurred in February last year, where he pushed and kicked the victim. It was aggravated by the fact that it was committed in breach of bail conditions.

Chief Justice Anthony Dudley told the defendant that he would have been sentenced to 12 months custody for the charge of controlling and coercive behaviour and two months for common assault, to run concurrently.

However, as Dalrymple has served six months and 10 days on remand, Mr Justice Dudley sentenced the 46-year-old to time served.
