Unite the Union is balloting its members on the proposed pay increase for public sector workers.

An online ballot opened at 9am on Thursday and will remain open until midnight on Sunday.

A physical ballot will be run between 10am on Monday the 27th until 4pm on Thursday the 30th of July.

In last week’s budget address, the Chief Minister announced a ten year framework which he said would restore the 12.6% loss in purchasing power which workers have experienced since 2019.

Unite members will be asked whether they accept the pay proposal as it runs from now through to 2031.

National Officer, Stuart Davies, said the union had agreed to ballot its members on any proposal for this five year period only.

He says they cannot predict what the economic landscape will look like in five years time and that any decision about the second five year period of the framework will be taken by union members in future.
