The Gibraltar NASUWT  - the Teachers' union, has raised concerns over its involvement in this year’s Workers’ Memorial Day arrangements.

It says it was not included in wreath-laying plans.

The NASUWT says it approached the Ministry of Culture about participation but was told representation would be handled through the event organisers, Unite; a position the Teachers' Union disputes as not reflecting fair representation for teaching staff.

The comments come amid wider tensions between unions over the organisation of the Workers' Memorial Day event, with calls from Government for unity and reminders from organiser, Unite, that it has previously accommodated other unions and will do so again.

NASUWT is now calling for the Ministry of Culture to take direct responsibility for organising future ceremonies, to ensure equal access for all representative bodies.
