Big waves batter the East Side

With a Severe Weather Warning in place for heavy seas, huge waves have washed away kayaks and beachfront furniture at Eastern Beach, and battered the cliff at Europa Point - with big swells reaching the western shores as well.
Strong easterly winds saw all flights to Gibraltar diverted, including the BA from London Heathrow after it attempted to approach the airport.
In the evening, there was a rockfall near the entrance to the East Side project, with the rock falling onto the road. There were no injuries.
